About Lynbrook Plumbing & Heating
Lynbrook Plumbing started in 1949 from humble beginnings when Philip M. Ragusa, Sr. decided he would leave his work in Brooklyn and concentrate on Lynbrook with its rapid growth in housing and plumbing requirements on Long Island. Like many others he chuckled at the similarity in the two town names. He painted his first trucks bright red, a color choice that continues to this day, increasing their visibility and allowing them to become a part of the growing Nassau County scene.
With four children at the time and another on the way, Philip, Sr. recognized that he had to build a business that could survive long after he was gone. From the earliest of days each of the children took their place in the growing business.
As the family grew so did the team of technicians. Some of the technicians working today have well over 30 years of service to Lynbrook Plumbing, creating an environment of long-term trust and professionalism.
The business grew, as it does today, primarily by word-of-mouth from one satisfied customer to another. One commentator cited Lynbrook Plumbing as the “Tiffany of Bathroom Contracting”.
As the business grew, so did the family. Unlike many other businesses however, the founder’s spirit and motivation was passed on to 4 of his sons who took over the business when Philip, Sr. could no longer handle the expanding business. The spirit of family cooperation extends to today where 2 sons, Fred and Philip continue to guide the business, extending it to grandchildren (Chris) and even Great Grandchildren (Joey), all of whom are carrying the founder’s focus on quality workmanship.
Philip, Sr. also recognized the need to involve himself in more than just the plumbing needs of the area, so he became immersed in the Knights of Columbus, the Momorari Lodge and his local Church. He easily filled the role of the “Go-To-Guy” for their projects and events. Everybody knew Philip.
The business continues to grow and change every day, requiring the addition of new tools and new technologies in order to complete the mission. Ringing phones at the office today might startle Philip, Sr. if he were around the new offices, but the spirit of his original Lynbrook Plumbing would continue to be very evident on every customer’s site.
